Fulham are growing concerned that defender Ryan Sessegnon will be tempted by a move to the Premier league as the player is resisting the offer of a new contract at Craven Cottage. Yet, manager Slavisa Jokanovic has confirmed that the club has the power to keep the star players. He said:
“I expect our best players are going to stay with us – this is the information I have from the board.”
Tottenham and Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the 17-year-old, who is now eligible to sign a professional contract. Sessegnon has become a sensational name in the Championship after managing to score 3 goals and 3 assists in just 25 league appearances.
Sessegnon has been dreaming about playing in the Premier League, and Fulham came close to making this dream a reality by reaching the Championship play-off. Despite being the favourites against Reading, Fulham suffered a two legged defeat and will have to wait for another 12 months in order to come close to getting a return to the top division.
As a result, the only way for Sessegnon to quickly realise his Premier League dream would by joining a team from the top-flight. There has been no shortage of interest in the player with a number of top teams showing chasing him. But Liverpool and Spurs have so far been the front-runners for his signature.
Liverpool were thought to be closing in on the player, but it is understood that manager Jurgen Klopp has decided to pursue targets elsewhere since the transfer was taking a lot of time. Tottenham, though, may not have the same kind of urgency due to the presence of Danny Rose.
Sessegnon would be a valuable addition to any Premier Club and we should act quickly if we are to land the talented teenager. He would be a great signing and one for the future. The major reason as to why he should join us is that we’ll be able to give him ample time to prove himself. We have Danny Rose in our team and hence Sessegnon would face less pressure from the media and fans alike.
Do you think Sessegnon would be a good addition to our team?
