Tottenham will not be looking at bringing in “older” and “expensive” targets ahead of next season according to Football.london.

The outlet states that even though we have been linked with moves for Adrien Silva and even former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, the one player that we will be pushing on to sign is Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham.

The 17-year-old was one of the best players in the Championship last season and with Fulham not making the jump up to the Premier League, there are many clubs looking to sign the Englishman up.

For those not in the know, Sessegnon plays as a left-back though he can be pushed up the field and deployed as a winger or a left-sided midfielder too.

We aren’t the only clubs who are interested in the 17-year-old as Liverpool have also been in contact with Fulham. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Sessegnon does move before the end of the transfer window and this could turn out to be a case of which team can give him more regular playing time.

The future is young

The Tottenham midfielder would be better off at England than at Spain.

We do have a great batch of young players coming through the ranks and Sessegnon certainly be close to making a first-team appearance should he join any Premier League side.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josh Onomah and Harry Winks are just a few players that seem ready to become squad players for us. In fact, Winks was also given a lot of playing time in the latter part of last season and the development of these players could be something that catches the eye of Sessegnon.

His growth under Mauricio Pochettino and the rest of the coaching staff can turn him into the finished article. Currently, there is a lot of potential in the 17-year-old but we have seen a number of players fall away after making an early move to a Premier League club.

Hopefully, Sessegnon can make the right decision to join a club that will help his development. We do have a great record of promoting youth players to the first-team and the left-back could be the next one to join that list.
