Not Kyle Walker – Tottenham Slap £50million Price Tag On Versatile Englishman

Tottenham

Kyle Walker’s uncertain future is so widely known by us and it needs no introduction. However, one more player has joined the list and although it’d be fair to say the guy was already on the list, it wasn’t looking like a possibility and the intensity of the rumour wasn’t too strong either.

The latest report is that Tottenham have slapped a £50million price tag on versatile English star Eric Dier who is being chased by Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. According to The TelegraphManchester United have been quoted a £50million valuation of Dier, who Jose Mourinho wants to be signed in time for the new season.

The report claims that Dier is one of the players on the transfer target list given by Mourinho to Woodward. Eric was fantastic last season and his versatility has heavily impressed everyone. Dier signed a new deal with us in September last year and his contract runs until 2021. But the report says that Manchester United would be able to at least double his wages.

Chairman Daniel Levy’s £50 million valuation of Dier is more than United expected to pay for the 23-year-old who has developed exceptionally under Mauricio Pochettino.

Our Verdict

From Tottenham’s perspective, it would indicate a total lack of ambition if we agreed to sell a player to a team that finished 6th in the table last season and below us in the table the season before that as well. Manchester United might have the financial might but it is us who are making real progress and I don’t really see why Levy would agree to sell one of our most talented youngsters to a title rival.

I sincerely hope that the news is mere speculation and there is nothing really happening regarding Eric Dier. The way we have been progressing in recent years, I have a feeling Levy wouldn’t let go of our English core anytime soon.
