Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino steps up interest to sign former Liverpool midfielder Suso along Everton’s Ross Barkley.

The Daily Mirror understands that Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of Suso, currently at AC Milan, while Barkley has been a long-term target of the North London club.

Suso has attracted interest from the Premier League, having not yet signed the new contract offered to him by AC Milan. The Spaniard currently has two years remaining on his deal at the San Siro.

Spurs manager Pochettino is a big admirer of Suso and would like to add more creative players to his squad. The 23-year old, certainly fits that profile.

However, Tottenham will face competition from Serie A sides Roma and Napoli, who have also made their interest in the player known according to the Mirror.

Suso made 33 appearances for AC Milan last season, as he made a big impact in Italy. Such form has made him a man in demand this summer. He is believed to be weighing up his options before signing a new deal at the club, with Spurs confident of luring him back to England.

He started his professional career at Liverpool, but failed to become a first-team regular. After a few loan spells, he decided to sign permanently for Milan last summer.

Ross Barkley

Spurs, who are looking to bolster their midfield options, are also reportedly keen on Everton’s Ross Barkley.

The England international has been a long-term target of Spurs’ and Everton could finally be ready to sell him this transfer window, should his £25m valuation be met.

That fee is considerably lower than other years because Barkley’s contract at Goodison Park runs out next summer. £25m for a highly rated, young Englishman is a pretty good deal, but Spurs are unhappy with the valuation.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, is a notoriously tough negotiator and will try to save every penny he can. That may be in action again, here.

The deal for Suso will be focused on first, it is believed. Spurs may then reignite their interest in Barkley, later in the window.

With no new contract agree yet, it appears that Barkley will be leaving his hometown club. Everton manager Ronald Koeman has stated that if Barkley doesn’t sign a new contract soon, he will be sold.
