Tottenham Hotspur have been given an injury boost ahead of next season, as midfielder Harry Winks is expected to be fit by the time the 2017/18 campaign kicks off as per reports from the Daily Mail.

The Spurs academy product missed out the final few weeks of the last term due to a serious ankle injury, but now he is expected to be well on his way to complete recovery and may even participate in parts of Tottenham’s pre-season campaign according to the report.

Winks broke into our first team last season and established himself as a key member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. The 21-year old had made 33 appearances for the club across all competitions scoring one goal and setting up one more, before he picked up the injury against Burnley on 1 April, following which he was stretchered off the field.

“I’m obviously still rehabbing and I’ll be in a good 10 days or so before everyone, just getting myself fit, testing my ankle and making sure it’s okay to go back into full training,” Winks had told the club’s website earlier this week (via Evening Standard).

“I’ve almost got a pre-season before a pre-season just to get myself fit so hopefully I can come back in the best shape I can possibly be in, he went on to add.

His accelerated rehabilitation will definitely be good news for Pochettino and Tottenham, while it will also have pleased England manager Gareth Southgate.

The national team boss has previously spoken about how he has a lack of quality options in the central midfield area and that he sees Winks as someone who could be a member of the England squad in the near future.

The 21-year old, so far, has represented the England national team across all youth groups and last played for the U-21s in March, in a 1-0 defeat against Germany U-21s.
