Tottenham Hotspur fans do not have happy memories of Federico Fazio. He is often the forgotten man at the club and the fans do not miss a single opportunity to roast him for his ‘absence’.
The 30-year-old defender has been regular at being non-regular at the club. So, when the club confirmed that they have agreed a transfer to AS Roma, fans on Twitter were indifferent to the news.
The Argentine central defender spent the last season on loan with the Italian side and a post on Spurs’ official Twitter account announced the deal to the Stadio Olimpico.

Fazio moved to the North London club in 2014 from Sevilla in a deal that was worth £8 million. He was not supposed to be a super signing but his returns and struggles frustrated the club faithful.
He rarely had a run in the first team and struggled to challenge the status of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. Even when the duo was injured, Fazio could never impress to ease the worries.
Fazio played just 32 games for Spurs across all competitions in his three years with the final year seeing him farmed out on loan to Sevilla first and Roma later. He did have success at Roma making 48 appearances in total and even scoring four goals. That was enough for Roma to make a move and Tottenham were happy to let the move go through.
The fans were largely unimpressed with the player and had no reasons to be unhappy at the transfer. As one supporter tweeted, they even forgot he existed.

Another user was quick to express surprise that Tottenham still owned Fazio or for that matter even Clinton Njie!
What? We still owned Fazio? I suppose the next thing you’ll tell us is we still own Clinton Njie…

One supporter was more accommodating though by wishing him luck in Rome.
Delighted for you that you got your permanent move. I wish you continued success with Roma
