Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the pre-season squad for the tour of USA. More than the names that made the list, the ones that missed the plane caught attention of the fans.

The list of 26 players announced was a mix of first team regulars and youth stars that will fly to the United States. Friendly contests with AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are on the plate for Spurs.

Not part of the squad are four senior players – the prominent among them being Moussa Sissoko. The French midfielder who last was signed last summer, is now linked with an exit from the White Hart Lane.

Staying back together with Sissoko are Danny Rose, Eric Lamela and Son Heung-min. Nothing to worry for the fans because the trio are recovering from injuries and need more time out-of-action than on the pitch.

The official stance though is that Sissoko has a virus and has been left behind to get treated. That surely is not the most convincing answer to keep a player out – not for someone who is looking for an exit out from the club.

The 27-year-old is now odds-on favourite to depart after just one season with us; a season that promised so much but delivered so little. The fans were excited to land this guy last season expecting him to deliver some of his European Championships’ performances.

It wasn’t to be, sadly, and now the player is set for a swift exit. Fans took Twitter to express their emotions – most of them happy while some of them expressing sadness at the lack of incomings.

Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter on Sissoko’s exclusion from the squad.
