Tottenham are tracking Italy international Antonio Candreva according to Transfer Market Web. The report claims that we are in a battle with Chelsea for the Inter Milan star and that the Blues are looking to submit a bid of £24.6million.

The report further adds that we would be also looking to submit a bid for the 30-year-old right-sided midfielder, who can play in a number of positions. He could turn out to be the right kind of signing for us.

Candreva played in 38 Serie A games for the Milan side and certainly was one of their brightest players. The 30-year-old scored 6 goals and provided 10 assists in the league. He is known for his crossing ability and is great when playing out wide – something that we can do with.

The 30-year-old would also be a cheap option and since he is a player who has a lot of experience, he can help the young players with improving their mental strength ahead of a tough season. There will be a lot of back and forth to sign the player as the Blues might be ahead of us in the pecking order for the 30-year-old, thanks to Antonio Conte being the manager at the club.

There is another problem for us regarding the transfer and it is the fact that the 30-year-old only joined the San Siro side last season. So Candreva leaving them after just one year does seem highly unlikely. Inter would be looking to get as much money as they can even if the player is 30, and we might not have the cash to outbid the Blues too.

We do need to bring in players ahead of the new season and the lack of any transfer moves in the summer is a bit of a worry for most fans. Unfortunately, this transfer for Candreva is extremely unlikely given that the player only recently moved to Inter and Chelsea are in for him too.

At the moment, we seem to be in the news for selling players and not bringing in talent – something that needs to change quickly. If we don’t sign players this summer, we will lose out to a number of sides even before the start of the Premier League season.

  1. I am beginning to wonder if Pochetino really has any power when it comes to getting new players. If some of the rumours are true then even the young cheap ones are too expensive for Levy

  2. Utter drivel! There is no way we would spend 24 million on a 30 year old, completely against our player acquisition profile.

  3. Poch doesn’t want any of those on the wrong side of 25 yrs. it’s all media drivel and when it does work they start talking of Jose bidding £40, £50M or £60M for Dier and unfortunately a lot of believe this media rubbish.
