The footballing world is still in shock regarding PSG’s move to sign Neymar from Barcelona. While people still reel from that mammoth spending spree that the French club will go through, life and football rumours must go on. After a summer where we have been linked with a number of players with none of them joining us yet, Il Secolo XIX via Calciomercato claims that we want to sign not one but two players from the Serie A.
Before we jump about and expect players from Juventus or AS Roma being linked with a move to London, the two players that could become Spurs stars are Diego Laxalt and Giovanni Simeone. Both are playing for Genoa and are considered to be great talents for the future.
Another Pair Of South Americans To Turn Things Around At Spurs
Although the pair aren’t on the same level or as popular as Ossie Ardiles or Ricky Villa, Laxalt and Simeone could be a couple of future stars under the right manager.
Laxalt is a winger and even though he doesn’t have the greatest goals-to-games ratio, the 24-year-old has become a mainstay for the Genoa side and is known for his pace and technique. The Uruguayan was even linked with a move to Chelsea last winter but that didn’t take place.
Giovanni Simeone is the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and plays mostly as a striker. The 22-year-old scored 11 Serie A goals for Genoa in his first full season and that isn’t the worst stat to have when playing in the Italian league.
The youngster can play either as a lone striker or as a secondary striker and will provide us with a lot of options ahead of the coming season. Simeone is also known for his work rate and pairing him with Harry Kane could lead to us having one of the most devastating and hardworking forward pairings in the Premier League.
Of course, this is still all up in the air as the report claims that we have asked for more information on the duo and the pair would be available for a combined fee of €35-40million.
We need to kick on and start signing players and even if we sign these two starlets, they would provide decent cover for our side which has an extremely strong starting XI.
