Gareth Bale To Tottenham – Rumours Circulate That The Welsh Star Could Be On His Way Back To The Club

Not many fans may have given this a thought but ‘The Secret Footballer’ thinks that Gareth Bale could be on his way back to the White Hart Lane, as per reports from the Express.

The Secret Footballer is a pseudonym of an ex-Premier League star who has also written four books. He tweeted last night saying that Real Madrid are ready to listen to offers for Bale and Tottenham have the first option as part of his sale in 2013.

He tweeted last night (as quoted by Express):

“I’m hearing that Real Madrid are prepared to listen to offers for Gareth Bale and Tottenham have first option as part of his sale in 2013.”

On The Move Again?

Tottenham sold Bale for an estimated £85million to Real Madrid – which now looks minuscule compared to the sale of Neymar, four years ago in what was a record transfer then. The Welsh superstar never settled in at the Spanish capital, although he continuously rebuffed any claims that he is looking for a way out.

Zinedine Zidane used Isco extensively in Bale’s position when the former Spurs winger was injured. The Spaniard’s improved form saw Bale lose his place even after making a return from injury.

The lack of game time and the continuous scrutiny from the Bernabeu crowd are reported to have unsettled Bale. Credit to the player though, who has always maintained his dignity in public and rejected any thoughts of moving again.

But, the high-profile chase of Kylian Mbappe this season could mean curtains for Bale at Real Madrid. Zidane will be forced to make space in his first-team for his compatriot and Bale looks the most expendable player for now.

Will We Go For Bale?

If the player becomes available in the market, he will not be short of suitors. Manchester United have been long term admirers and Jose Mourinho never misses a chance to highlight his interest in signing the player.

Regardless of the clause about Tottenham retaining the first chance to sign him, Bale will prove to be a costly acquisition. Madrid will be reluctant to sell him for anything less than what they bought him for and may even want more than that for him. Also, reports emerged earlier that Chelsea and Manchester United were in a £90million race to sign the Welshman.

Will Spurs go for him? I highly doubt it, considering the lack of transfer activity and the need to strengthen other areas. We are yet to sign a single player and our first signing should be a defender – to cover for Kieran Trippier’s injury. Spending huge sums on a single player is not what Daniel Levy would do.
