Report – Tottenham Close In On Deal, 95% Agreement Done, But Must Overcome Hurdle To Sign Right-back

published :

Tottenham are close to completing a deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier but there are a number of issues that could crop up regarding his signing.

Reports from French publication L’Equipe suggest that the deal is close to completion and the player has reached 95% agreement with us regarding a contract and the only issue left is to finalise a £23million deal with his current club. The report further adds that our chairman Daniel Levy will only open negotiations with the Ligue1 giants after the player agrees to terms with us.

We are ahead of Chelsea when it comes to signing the defender up but should things not work for us, Antonio Conte will try his best to get the player over to Stamford Bridge.

Aurier Has Issues Entering England

Another report from the Times adds that the PSG man will not be allowed into the country until his appeal to quash his conviction of a fight with a police officer is completed. Aurier had problems entering the UK when PSG faced Arsenal in the Champions League last season and the authorities even revoked a visa that had already been provided to the player.

Mauricio Pochettino has been working hard to get players into the team, given that we still have not signed anyone in the transfer window. For all the talk about challenging for the title, without quality cover, we will struggle not only due to injuries but also due to fatigue.

We cannot keep on playing our best XI in the Premier League and Champions League, and not to forget, the domestic cups will also provide a distraction as we look to go one better and win the league title.

What can work in our favour is the fact that PSG have to sell players as they look to deal with Financial Fair Play after signing Neymar from Barcelona for a world record fee of £198million. Selling Aurier might not be on the same level as the Brazilian when it comes to money being paid but he does need to move away for regular playing time.

The French side have sold Blaise Matuidi to Juventus in the hopes of balancing the books and for our sake, Aurier could be the next one to follow suit.
