Tottenham One Step Closer To Landing Sanchez, Doesn’t Turn Up At Team Hotel After Agreeing 5 Year Spurs Deal

Tottenham target Davinson Sanchez continues to hog attention, as his reported absence from Ajax’s hotel this afternoon raised eyebrows. The defender’s absence was related to the Dutch club’s reluctance to accept Tottenham Hotspur’s bid of €40million, according to Dutch outlet Telesport.

Ajax’s squad were meeting at the Hilton hotel ahead of their Europa League play-off against Norwegian side Rosenborg but Sanchez’s absence was being presented as his final step ahead of a transfer to Tottenham.

The reports from Amsterdam went on to indicate that the player has agreed to a five-year deal to join the club. The Dutch giants are using delaying tactics to ramp up the asking price to €50million.

The Daily Mail reported that the player had ended the dispute with the club and has eventually returned to training on Wednesday. However, the latest reports coming out about his absence from his hotel on Thursday afternoon ahead of the Europa League tie indicates that the 21-year-old Colombian international is still looking to close out the transfer. Telesport reporter Mike Verweij updated the same on his Twitter account, claiming that Sanchez was not present at the hotel and that Ajax were not willing to explain the defender’s absence.

After a successful season last year, Sanchez’s stock has risen considerably, with top European clubs knocking the doors. Chelsea and Real Madrid have also shown interest in the versatile centre-back, although it is the interest of Tottenham that has been concrete so far. The player too is understood to be interested in a move to the White Hart Lane, after speaking to Mauricio Pochettino.

Delegates from the North London club are already in Amsterdam trying to chalk out an agreement and close the deal out. The defender wishes to move to England but Ajax are determined to hold on to their priceless asset.

Ajax have failed to qualify for the Champions League and that seems to have helped the defender make up his mind. Attending or missing the training would hardly help in solving the issues but they are seen as a token of the player’s wishes.

Will Sanchez become the first summer signing for Pochettino? Luckily for the fans, there are multiple deals being discussed and all of them are showing good signs of reaching a closure.

It wouldn’t matter if he is the first or the last signing of this summer – Sanchez is a wonderful young player who is rated very less in this crazily inflated transfer market. I hope Daniel Levy doesn’t waste more time in getting his signature.
