Chelsea are looking to sign Toby Alderweireld according to The Sunday Times (via Metro). The report claims that the champions have made an inquiry about the availability of the Belgian despite being interested in Southampton’s defender Virgil van Dijk.
We have been doing our bit of trying to keep hold of the 28-year-old and are in negotiations for a new contract but the summer has been filled with rumours suggesting that Toby would be moving to another club for better pay. However, it would take a huge bid before Daniel Levy gives a green signal to such a deal.
Ahead of today’s big game, Twitter was lit up with some rather brilliant responses as Chelsea fans wanted Conte and Roman Abramovich to do all they had to do to sign the Belgian defender and Spurs fans were equally up for the banter. Here are some of the best reactions from the social-networking site;
Daniel levy just give alderweireld 80k a week…this club will never grow if you won't let it

Is it Chelsea desperation or a new low in scumminess from Toby Alderweireld agent that's leaked this on game day?
