Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly sign Divock Origi from Liverpool before the transfer window closes next Thursday. According to The Telegraph, Origi has slipped down Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order at Liverpool this season and would be allowed to leave.

The Belgian striker who was Klopp’s favourite hasn’t started a game this season making just one substitute appearance. In fact, he couldn’t even make it to the matchday squad for this midweek’s Champions League match against Hoffenheim.

That looked like the last straw in the saga and Origi now wants to move out to ensure he doesn’t miss out on the Belgian squad for the World Cup. Liverpool have indicated that they are ready to conduct business for Origi provided their own chase of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ends on a positive note.

Spurs may be interested in Origi’s availability although it is a surprise for some of the fans. We have indicated our interest in his services in the past and could once again be tempted to make a move.

Vincent Janssen has moved closer to the exit door at Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino is looking for a reliable cover for his prime striker Harry Kane. Origi could be the right man to fill the gap. There is interest from other clubs too as Marseille have shown an interest in bringing him back to Ligue 1 while Anderlecht are interested in a loan deal for the striker.

Spurs fans reacted on Twitter to the news and most of them were excited by the prospect of signing Origi. There are some fans who feel that he is no better than Janssen but the majority feel that Origi can shine under Pochettino at White Hart Lane.
