Tottenham Hotspur are just a step away from signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier after the full-back was granted permission to enter the United Kingdom. According to the Twitter account of Paris United, there is only one document pending to complete the full clearance.
That removes the biggest barrier for Aurier completing his transfer to North London. The Ivory Coast international was given a two-month suspended jail sentence last year for assaulting a police officer outside a night club in Paris.

Such was the impact of that sentence that Aurier could not travel with PSG to Arsenal last year for their Champions League clash.
That, of course, has not prevented other clubs from vying for his signature. However, Tottenham remain as firm favourites for his signature. Earlier, reports from L’Equipe indicated that Spurs had lodged a bid for the PSG man which was accepted and that the player had undergone a medical.
Although the veracity of these reports hasn’t been established, one thing was sure – Daniel Levy was keen to complete the deal and has traveled to Paris for securing the transfer with PSG sporting director Antero Henrique.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino also likes the player and has refused to rule out a move for Aurier this transfer window. The only worry for Levy and Pochettino is the legal hassles and now that it has been addressed, the deal should hasten up.
Interestingly, other clubs are also in the mix with Chelsea and Juventus watching the developments closely. Juventus wanted to sign him in January, which didn’t materialise. They could be tempted to come back this summer. Chelsea, on the other hand, were waiting for the legal issues to be sorted before making a firm move.
€25million is the fee reported in the media and if it is true, then it could be a real coup for Spurs. Aurier could be a backup for Kieran Trippier and his presence would grant enough time for Kyle Walker-Peters to grow into the first-team by the end of this season.
Do you think Serge Aurier will be a hit at Tottenham?
