Tottenham’s search for another striker seems to be heading to Germany, based on the latest reports from the country. While we did sign Fernando Llorente on the final day of the transfer window, the Spaniard isn’t getting any younger at the moment and we do need to get someone who can be at the club for a number of years.
While we have been linked with Cenk Tosun recently, Hoffenheim’s star striker this season, Mark Uth could be the player that Mauricio Pochettino might move for as the Argentine looks for more goals coming in from players other than Harry Kane.
Uth, who scored in both the legs in the Champions League qualifier against Liverpool, has been on fire for the Bundesliga side and has scored 6 times in just 8 appearances. Uth had only scored 8 goals in the entirety of last season for Hoffenheim but he surely will be scoring more goals than that this time around.
This could be one of the bargain deals that we have been looking for in recent years as Uth’s contract is running out and he will be a free agent come the start of next season. The German is looking for a new club, even though German outlet Kicker (h/t TalkSport) claims that Hoffenheim are trying their best to tie him down to a long-term contract.
Cover For Kane But What About Vincent Janssen?
Uth might be a good player to have on the bench but it does throw a lot of questions about Vincent Janssen and his future at the club. It was a surprise that the Dutch striker moved away on loan to Fenerbahce.
He might not have the best scoring record but if he works hard, like he does at Hoffenheim, the German would be a hit with the Spurs faithful and working in tandem with Kane could provide us with a great partnership in the future. Getting a quality player for free is never easy but if we can sign Uth, we just might have a quality back-up player.
