“They’d be mad to sell him” – Reputed Sky Sports Pundit Warns Tottenham Against Selling Star Man

This is a great time to be a Tottenham fan. Be it the consistent results being churned out on the field, the unending list of potential stars in the team, the presence of a charismatic manager who insists on developing the club organically than by making huge-money signings or the exciting new stadium on the anvil, there’s everything for every Spurs fan to be excited about.

No wonder then that all top European clubs are looking at Tottenham with eagle eyes to snare our top stars. Former English professional and current Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale warned the club that cashing in on Harry Kane could be detrimental in the long run.

“The temptation is that if they sell him, that will pay for the new stadium,” he said. “But you want the best players to play in the new stadium and he’s one of the best strikers in the world at the moment.

“They’d be mad to sell him, you’ve got to build everything around him and give him what Real Madrid would pay him.”

Why does Gale think that we would sell Kane in the first place? Prima facie, media is still living in the old era where Tottenham were largely a selling club. Top players having a good season or two at the White Hart Lane ended up being sold at the right price.

Also, there are worries that the economic burden of constructing a brand new White Hart Lane stadium will take its toll on the club and that Daniel Levy could be forced to raise funds by selling players.

If the Lilywhites choose to sell players, top of the list would be Kane. The England international is in cracking form for the club and country and it would be a disgrace for top clubs like Real Madrid not to track him. Does that mean, we should sell him? I don’t see that as an option at all because Mauricio Pochettino would want his stars to stay together and play in the brand new stadium next season.

With such a fantastic stadium on the way, the focus should be on keeping Kane and making him lead a new revolution at the refurbished White Hart Lane. Gale thinks on the same lines and wants Spurs to build around Kane.

For me, it is a non-starter. Top European clubs will circle the club to see if they could sign Kane or any of our first-team members. Let’s take it as an endorsement of our play and move forward with our plans. And those plans should be built around Harry Kane.
