What if Tottenham are not in action; the club’s stars excelled with their national teams to give a cause for cheer to the fans. International breaks are excruciatingly silent, for someone like me, because we hardly get to feel the adrenaline of seeing our club in action.
But, the players compensated for that in some style over the last few matches. Striker Harry Kane was quick off the blocks as usual and captained England in the World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.
What more, Kane celebrated the occasion by scoring the winner in both matches. Looks like his thirst for goals – touch wood – is unending.
Harry Winks too reached a milestone by making his full international debut for England on Sunday while defender Jan Vertonghen brushed off injury scare by scoring for Belgium on his 96th international appearance.
However, the most impressive performance, according to the fans, came from Danish superstar Christian Eriksen who helped his nation grab a World Cup playoff spot by scoring from the penalty spot.
The stylish midfielder is a fan favourite at North London club and is one of the first names on the team sheet. The 25-year-old is an unsung hero at the club with the plaudits usually cornered by Dele Alli and Kane.
Spurs fans were quick to take Twitter to praise the playmaker for his performances.
