Tottenham Could Complete Important £160,000-a-week Deal For Top-class English Star

Tottenham have opened talks with star midfielder Dele Alli over a new contract that would propel him into the top earners’ group at the club. According to the latest reports from The Sun, Spurs are ready to tie him to a new deal and the player is looking at a £160,000-a-week deal.

Alli still has four years left on his current deal that earns him £50,000-a-week. He signed the current deal 12 months ago. However, consistent performances have earned rave reviews for the player who is wanted by top clubs from Europe.

Spurs understand this fact and want to offer a new deal that would justify his value at the club. Alli is one of the first names on the team sheet for manager Mauricio Pochettino and the Argentine’s long-term plans revolve around him.

But, the 21-year-old England international wants to ensure that his new deal outshines all his team-mates. Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris are currently the top earners at the club, on a deal worth £100,000-a-week.

So, is this a good move for Tottenham? Alli has been the cornerstone of Spurs’ success ever since he joined the club in the summer of 2015. In 105 matches for the North London club, Alli has scored 35 goals and 25 assists – outstanding statistics for someone so young.

His current deal may be until 2022 but the consistency with which he churns out impressive performances is sure to get him more eyeballs. Already there are rumours that Real Madrid are interested in making a bid for the youngster.

The news that Alli could finally turn to one of the super-agents Mino Raiola or Jorge Mendes is also a worrying signal for Spurs as the duo is well connected with Real Madrid and Manchester United. Should the change of agents happen, the player could be persuaded into a big money move to one of those heavy spenders.

That should explain the need for giving Alli a new deal and ward off any attention from the Real Madrids of the world. Does that mean he would get a £160,000-a-week deal? Hardly so, because of the tight wage structure in place at the club.
