AC Milan winger Suso is still being scouted by Tottenham Hotspur despite the fact that he only signed a new five-year deal with the Rossoneri last month.
Several sources have claimed that Tottenham made an offer for the former Liverpool man this summer, but Milan were reluctant to lose him. Calciomercato has further added that we were keen on signing him and that we even made a €23m bid for the winger, but to no avail. Suso was a revelation for Milan last season and has been in fine form this season as well.
In 8 Serie A appearances, the Spaniard has scored 3 goals and has bagged 2 assists. However, a tactical shift has seen him lose his consistency and this has lead to the rumours of his potential exit. Suso carries a massive €40m release on his head, although Milan could be forced to sell to him next summer if they fail to qualify fo the Champions League next season.
Despite spending heavily in the summer, the San Siro club has failed to get into the groove. In their 8 Serie A fixtures, they have only managed 4 victories and have lost other four. Ending their campaign outside the Champions League qualification spot will lead to them losing a couple of star men, with Suso being one of them.
“I wouldn’t say qualification is obligatory, but the Champions League is fundamental in our plans,” AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone was quoted by Football Italia.
Failing to qualify wouldn’t destroy the project, but it would delay it by a year and we’d try to balance the lack of Champions League revenue by selling one or two top players.”
Football Italia also claims that Tottenham might not wait until summer, as the club hierarchy are well expected to lodge a €22m offer in January itself.
Regarded as one of the most versatile players, Suso can be deployed as a winger as well as a striker. Hence, he is not just about goals. He is a team player and loves to exchange quick passes with his teammates. Besides, the Spaniard is also known for his brilliant set-piece abilities. All in all, the 23-year-old will be a welcome edition for us.
