Mauricio Pochettino is hoping that his striker Harry Kane will be given a green signal when Tottenham welcome Real Madrid in the Champions League at Wembley on 1st of November.
Kane appeared to be in a lot of pain over what was described as a minor hamstring injury at the end of Spurs’ win over Liverpool a week ago. The striker went on to miss the following league fixture; a 2-3 defeat at hands of West Ham United in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup. When quipped about his availability against Manchester United, Mauricio Pochettino said the striker would be assessed. Eventually, Kane missed that game as well. Two games without Harry Kane and two defeats.
Pochettino’s side have clearly struggled in the absence of Harry Kane, but the Argentine has remained optimistic over his return against Real Madrid. Speaking ahead of the game, Pochettino quoted that a decision will be taken after consulting with the club doctors and after complete analysis.
“With the doctors and the player, we will take the best decision for everyone,” Pochettino said with regards to Kane’s involvement against Real, as quoted by Sky Sports. “It’s not the last game or the final where you would say, ‘OK, after that it’s holidays’.”
“We must analyse and take the best decision for everyone.
“We will assess him and then we will make the best decision. My feeling is good. But it’s not my feeling, it’s Harry Kane’s feeling,” the Argentine coach added.
Kane, who is a two-time reigning Golden Boot winner, has continued grabbing all the headlines and has scored 13 goals in 12 games in all competitions. Son Heung-Min and Fernando Llorente remain as the two options for the Argentine, but Kane’s goal-scoring prowess cannot be matched by the two. Sharing a top spot in Group H of the Champions League, Tottenham will be hoping to add further misery to Real’s fate, who were recently overpowered by newly promoted side Girona in the La Liga.
Tottenham need to up their gear against Real given that the Galacticos are on the verge of welcoming both Gareth Bale and Keylor Navas back. Both of them have started training and Navas, in particular, is expected to be on the field on Wednesday. Besides, Isco, who suffered a knock against Girona over the weekend and was deemed as a doubt, will be there as well.
