As if losing two back to back fixtures was not enough, Tottenham have been handed a massive injury snag as Daily Mail’s Football Editor Ian Ladyman (h/t Goal) has suggested that Victor Wanyama could miss the remainder of the season with his injury being dubbed as more serious than initially feared.
The Kenya international has only featured twice in the Premier League this season, with one being in a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea at Wembley and the other being a substitute appearance against Newcastle United. Wanyama picked up a serious knee injury in early September while in training and hasn’t featured since then. The club, on their part, initially quoted that he would be out for a ‘few weeks’ but that isn’t the case anymore.

Ahead of Manchester United’s fixture, Tottenham gave an update by quoting,
“Victor Wanyama is receiving treatment and continuing to go through rehabilitation, following up with a specialist next week,”
The club failed to give any specific time frame. Quite understandably, Tottenham do need to worry given that Erik Lamela remains a long-term absentee as well. Besides, Harry Kane has been sidelined due to a minor hamstring injury and missed Tottenham’s last two fixtures; the club failed to win any of those.
Lamela has returned to training and Kane too is expected to feature against Real Madrid, but Wanyama remains a major concern for the manager. Speaking of his situation, Pochettino expressed his concern, saying that
“We are concerned about his situation,” the Argentine admitted, as quoted by Football.London.
“We must wait for when he sees the specialist and then we’ll see what happens. But of course, after some time without him involved in the training sessions and with the team, we are concerned,” the Tottenham boss continued.
“But now we need to wait next week to have a more clear idea of what’s going on.”
And with that being said, Tottenham fans went into a meltdown and this is how they reacted to the news:
How as a slight knock kept Wanyama out for the season? Someone at the club has made a howler here, surely…

No Wanyama, Dembele pretty much done. Who knows if Lamelas coming back. GKN is useless. Winks has stepped up well but need to spend in Jan
