‘He’s crazy about it’ – Ballon d’Or Winner Raves About Tottenham Superstar

published :

For many Tottenham fans, Harry Kane is the best striker in England. That may be dismissed as a sign of fan worship but what about those experts who reckon the same?

These days, it is very easy to find a former player who raves about the England striker’s performances and rates him among the best. Joining the league is former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus.

Writing in his column for the Four Four Two magazine (h/t talkSPORT), the German opened up about Kane’s exquisite qualities that bring so many goals, both for Tottenham and England.

Matthaus wrote:

“Kane guarantees you goals and he has scored so many,”

“He works for the team, he is strong and his body language is amazing. You can see just how much he wants to score. He’s crazy about it.

“He is so focused on the ball when it comes to him. I like it when a player has that look – he doesn’t want to let that chance go.”

That is some praise from a player who won the Ballon d’Or in 1990. He captained Germany to the World Cup title in the same year and is regarded as one of the finest in the history of German football. Matthaus has played with and against some of the best in the business – Marco van Basten, Rudi Voller and Jurgen Klinsmann are some of the names that come to the mind.

He knows that it takes a striker to win titles for the side and he indicated that Kane is the best in Premier League currently, better than Sergio Aguero of Manchester City and Alvaro Morata of Chelsea.

Statistics don’t lie, and Kane has been the coveted ‘Golden Boot’ winner for the past two seasons. In a league that is bestowed with some of the best natural strikers, winning it twice consecutively is a testament to Kane’s abilities and consistency.

The England international striker has scored 86 times in 126 Premier League appearances for us. He has already found the net 8 times this season and is the joint top-scorer along with Aguero. The way he usually picks up in the second half of the season, there is no doubt that Kane would once again be near the top come the end of the season.

That consistency is probably why Matthaus thinks that Kane is the perfect player for Tottenham and England. He believes that the forward is in the same league as Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker, and that the Three Lions fans should be happy to have him on their side.
