With no club football on the horizon until the weekend, there were a number of Tottenham fans keenly glued to the World Cup qualifier between the Republic of Ireland and Denmark.
Christian Eriksen was one player that had the chance of making it to the World Cup with the Danes but playing against the Irish in their own backyard was a tough ask, especially when the first leg ended 0-0.
Things didn’t start too well for the away team as Shane Duffy headed Ireland into the lead but then the Christian Eriksen show started.
Cyrus Christie scored an own goal to level the tie and give the Danes the advantage on the away goals rule and then Eriksen scored thrice without reply to effectively end any hopes of Ireland making it to Russia 2018.
The match ended with former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner scoring a 90th-minute penalty but the star of the show was the Tottenham man, who has grown from strength to strength this season.
Eriksen has been on fire for Spurs this campaign and will look to do something similar when we face Arsenal at the weekend. Our fans could not hold themselves back on Twitter and here are some of their best reactions.

Legit think Eriksen age 25 (right now) has easily surpassed Modric at the same age – around the time when the EE bought him from Spurs. Can play deep as he does for Spurs, as well as more attacking as he did today – & does both well.@FCBarcelona – you know what to do!!! https://t.co/g3RYUkFQL1

Eriksen scored double digit goals for us when we were shit, now that we have goals all over the team, he doesnt need to score as many and focuses on running the team and creating.

In my opinion, Christian Eriksen is very close to being considered truly World Class and I don’t say that lightly. The remainder of this season and the upcoming World Cup is going to be huge for him. #Russia2018WorldCup

God bless the Barcelona chief scout for spending all summer trying to sign Coutinho and not Eriksen.

Eriksen is everything Arsenal think Sanchez is…

Tough result for Ireland but one of the best performances I’ve seen from Eriksen. Didn’t realize just how good he is. Movement and awareness for Denmark’s third goal was top quality, as well as being a great finish. pic.twitter.com/JAHusDq4su

Rep of Ireland 1 Denmark 5. No such thing as a one-man show in football, but Christian Eriksen was absolutely superb. Ireland started well but faded and faded and faded

Christian Eriksen scored as many goals (11) as Romelu Lukaku during qualification, with only Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo scoring more goals than him. #COYS pic.twitter.com/pT6AdhTGNA
