Tottenham Hotspur are interested in making a bid for the Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa, according to a report in Tuttomercatoweb.
We aren’t the only ones chasing the signature of a player who has been making waves in Serie A. It is reported that a number of Italian clubs including Juventus, Inter Milan, Napoli, AS Roma as well as mega spenders Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the youngster.
The 20-year-old attacker is claimed to have been valued at €60million by the Serie A club but that is not deterring Tottenham or for that matter any of the other interested clubs.
The youngster is extremely talented and the winger has wasted no time in establishing himself in the Fiorentina team. The youngster has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist for the Serie A side in 15 league appearances so far in the season, which is a decent enough return given his age.
The Right Fit For Tottenham?
For Mauricio Pochettino, Chiesa would tick many boxes. The Italian can operate anywhere in the forward line and can be deployed as a central or as an attacking midfielder. This is the type of versatility that appeals to the Spurs manager and he may well go for his signature. Age is an advantage too because Pochettino usually loves to get youngsters and then develop them at the club.
The bigger question though is about the transfer fee as chairman Daniel Levy may not be interested in splashing €60million for someone so young. Having said that, Levy would do well to consider his potential and how the transfer market views him as a player.
There is a lot of interest in the player, with Juventus, PSG, and even Inter Milan looking to splash the cash on the youngster. If Pochettino is serious with the pursuit, Spurs should match the bids from the other clubs.
What do you think? Is €60million too high for someone just 20-years-old or should Levy respect the transfer market valuations and sign the talented youngster?
