A fine hat-trick from Harry Kane, which saw the Englishman equal Alan Shearer’s 1995 record for most Premier League goals scored in a calendar year, gave Tottenham a well-deserved win against Burnley at Turf Moor.

Also, with the hat-trick, Kane is now the joint top scorer in the Premier League this season with 15 goals from 19 games. Shearer’s record can still be broken as Tottenham are yet to welcome Southampton on December 26.

“He can still improve. Players arrive at their best at 27, 28, 29,” said Pochettino of Kane, as quoted by BBC.

“It all depends how professional you are. If he keeps working hard every day in training and never changes that mentality, he can play until he wants. For me, he can still improve his game.”

It all started in as early as the 6th minute when Kevin Long’s tackle on Dele Alli was adjudged as foul by the referee and a penalty was awarded. Kane converted the penalty and then scored his second soon after the hour’s mark, converting Moussa Sissoko’s ball. The final nail was hammered just 10 minutes after the second with a clinical finish at the far post.

With the win, Tottenham jumped to 5th spot in the table, one point below Liverpool who drew with Arsenal. The record doesn’t stand just on league level for Kane, as he has now scored 53 goals for club and country in 2017 and is on level terms with Edinson Cavani (PSG), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid). He is just one behind Lionel Messi (Barcelona).

Furthermore, he has the best chance of surpassing the Argentine given that only Tottenham amongst the aforementioned clubs are playing before the year ends. Having said that, Tottenham fans went into a frenzy after Kane’s performance and this is how they reacted:
