Tottenham To Battle London Rivals For 14-Goal Hot Shot Striker From La Liga – Spanish Reports

Tottenham could be in the running to sign one of the hottest strikers in the Spanish league. According to reports from Marca (h/t talkSPORT), Cedric Bakambu, the Villarreal striker is the player that a host of clubs are chasing, after a great start to the current season.

The DR Congo striker has been in great form for the Yellow Submarine this season, having scored 14 times from just 21 games and the report claims that we want the striker to provide some respite to Harry Kane, who has carried the burden of scoring goals for us this season too.

We tried to give him some support by signing Fernando Llorente but things have not worked out all that well for the former Swansea man. There have been reports that we might bring Vincent Janssen back from his loan deal but a move for Bakambu might just be the ticket that we need.

The 26-year-old mostly plays as the only striker for his side and is known for his ability to finish. Bakambu is also someone who plays a lot of short passes and that would possibly lead to better link-up play with the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.

His goal scoring exploits haven’t just caught the fancy of our side as the report suggests that Newcastle United, West Ham and even West Bromwich Albion are looking at the Villarreal man, which could lead to a tug of war in the upcoming transfer window.

Is Bakambu The Real Deal?

As we do need someone who can take over the goalscoring burden from Kane, Bakambu could be the man who can do the job. At least he can cover for the Englishman when we need someone who can chip in during the Englishman’s absence.

Bakambu is strong and is good on the ball. Even though he is not great in the air, the Congo striker will provide us with a different dimension up front and that can only mean a good thing for our team.

The 26-year-old wouldn’t be the most expensive signing either and with Mauricio Pochettino having some experience of coaching players in Spain, Bakambu might just be the one to gives Kane a bit of a run for his money.
