Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose’s knee injury is not a serious one, as per Sky Sports News. The 27-year-old missed Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with West Ham United at Wembley on Thursday and is unlikely to feature against AFC Wimbledon in the third round of FA Cup on Sunday, despite the injury not being serious.

Rose was out for nine months with a knee injury and only returned to action in October following an operation to fix the problem, but reports earlier suggested that the attacking full-back had suffered a recurrence of the same issue. The England international, prior to the West Ham game, did not travel to Swansea for Tuesday’s Premier League match as he had been feeling the knee in recent weeks.

Sky Sports News reports that Rose is being assessed by the Spurs medical team. However, he remains a doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup third-round clash with AFC Wimbledon at Wembley.

The England international, whose long-term future at Tottenham remains uncertain, suffered the problem after completing 90 minutes in the 5-2 win over Southampton on Boxing Day. Following Spurs’ 2-0 win over Swansea, coach Mauricio Pochettino revealed that tests will be carried out on the 27-year-old to assess the severity of the injury.

“We need to assess him. After the game against Southampton it was impossible to train and now we are going to assess him. Then the club will give information about what has happened,” Pochettino told the reporters.

“I am concerned about everyone when they cannot be available to play. Sometimes it is small things. You know in this situation we cannot manage because I am not a specialist. I am not a doctor.

“Always you are worried because you want the players available and fit to play, so you can make your decision. But we need to wait and we will assess him in the next few days.

“But my feeling, my perception is it would be difficult to play in 48 hours.”

Rose has played only 9 times for Tottenham this season, including just 5 starts in the league since returning from his knee injury in October. Ben Davies played against West Ham and was substituted in the second-half for an attacking player as Spurs chased the game.

The Wales international is expected to start against AFC Wimbledon, but Pochettino might look to keep his squad fresh and give the young Kyle Walker-Peters a shot at left-back to shine.
