“That means he is leaving for Madrid” Tottenham fans in Twitter rage after star player’s latest interview

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has outlined what it will take to ensure that his head is not turned by potentially massive offers. Kane scored a quickfire double on Sunday to take his goal tally for the season in all competitions to 26 as Tottenham defeated third-tier team AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup third round at Wembley.

Doubts surrounding Kane’s future have resurfaced after Mauricio Pochettino admitted that the England international could not be forced to stay if he wanted to leave his boyhood team. The England international has been in tremendous form for Spurs over the past few years. While he has no desire to leave the club, he desperately wants to win trophies with Tottenham.

After Spurs’s 3-0 win over Wimbledon, Kane was asked as to what the club needed to do in order to secure his long-term future. The striker said:

“I’ve always said, just keep progressing, keep getting better. We want to start winning trophies so that’s the aim. As long as the club keeps doing that then I’m happy here.”

The Londoners sit 21 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City with 41 points from 22 games and Kane believes the FA Cup offers them a realistic chance of a trophy.

“We want to win a trophy somehow and this is a competition we’re looking at to do that,” Kane added.

According to Guardian, Tottenham are preparing a deal for Kane worth £200,000-a-week but he is not aware of any planned negotiations.

“Not that I know of,” he said.

While Kane is currently happy at North London, there are chances of him getting prized away by Europe’s elite, with Real Madrid seemingly interested in the player. Kane, who is right at the top of the Spanish giants’ 2018 shopping list, feels that all players should be allowed to follow their hearts regardless of their contract situation, provided the market price is met.

“It’s a matter of opinion. I think if a player wants to go then why would you stop him? He’s not going to be in the club, he’s not going to play every game, he’s not going to put his heart on the line so…”

“From the Coutinho point of view, I think he’s been very professional in the six months he has played this year and, look, Liverpool have got a good offer from Barca and accepted it so I wouldn’t say they’re powerless. But I can see why if a player wants to go you would let him go,” Kane was quoted by Express.

These latest comments from the sublime striker have left the rumour mills spinning again. Here we bring some of the best reactions from Twitter.
