Real Madrid are reportedly looking to raid Tottenham for star man Harry Kane and boss Mauricio Pochettino. Spanish outlet Sport claims that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is looking to shake things up after falling 19 points behind Barcelona in the title race.
Real have made signing a new striker their top priority for the upcoming summer and it’s believed that Perez wants to make Kane his next Galactico, having previously done business with Spurs in 2013 for Wales international Gareth Bale. Kane has been in blistering form for Spurs, netting 28 goals in 28 appearances this season and a strong performance at the World Cup in June could see a lot of offers arrive from around Europe.
However, the Spurs hitman will only seal a transfer to Real if they can also bring in manager Mauricio Pochettino, according to reports in Spain. Having scored 122 goals in his last 167 games for Spurs, Kane is a priority for Real president Florentino Perez, according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon.
With the La Liga giants in search of a new striker in the summer, the England international would undoubtedly be a big upgrade on the out of sorts Karim Benzema, though it seems Kane is not prepared to simply walk away from Tottenham.
The report claims that Kane has made a brutal request to Perez that he wants them to appoint Pochettino as the manager if he is to leave London for the Spanish capital. From the 24-year-old’s perspective, Real manager Zinedine Zidane does not really have what it takes to make the most of a player with his characteristics, something that Pochettino has shown at Spurs.
This could be an exciting double swoop for Real, who could arguably do better with a change of manager after the side’s current struggles under Zidane.
The French manager is already under severe pressure due to Real’s poor form this season and the tension could further grow if the results don’t improve, with the club already looking to have relinquished their La Liga crown to arch nemesis Barcelona.
The ball is now in Perez’s court. If Zidane somehow manages to win the Champions League, it could act as a safety net for the French tactician. If he fails to do so, then Perez could pull the trigger to bring Kane, and subsequently Pochettino. With Pochettino doing so well to get the best out of Kane at Spurs, Perez would not think much before attempting to sign them in summer.
It is highly unlikely, however, that Poch would leave the club that he has been reshaping for the past few years. He has a project going on and with the club set to enter a new phase with the construction of the new stadium, we can be positive that our beloved Argentine is going nowhere. The same applies to Kane too, as he has time and again reiterated the fact that he wants to finish his career at Tottenham
