Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic looks set to leave the San Siro this month. Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen on signing the Croatian, according to reports. The 25-year-old has been attracting attention from all over Europe this season, with Liverpool in the race to sign him as well, according to reports emerging from Italy.
The Croatian international could be available to leave the Nerazzurri for £12million in the transfer window, as per Italian publication Corriere dello Sport. (h/t football.london)
Put up for sale by the Inter Milan board on manager Luciano Spalletti’s suggestion, Brozovic is still on Tottenham’s wish list.
The 32-time capped Croatia international has made just 7 starts for the Serie A giants this season, and a move away from the San Siro would seemingly be the ideal solution for both the player and the club, with his playing time being limited under Spalletti.
The cultured midfielder has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be an admirer of the player. Brozovic is desperate for regular playing time between now and the end of the season in order to be on the plane with Croatia for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
As per Tutto Mercato Web, the player, who is still on a deal with the Italian giants until June 2021, might be approached by Spurs soon. While Inter are believed to have demanded €25m for the player in the summer, Spurs could now potentially land him for £12m.
Brozovic is a typical box-to-box midfielder but due to his versatility, he can perform anywhere in the midfield. At 25, he is getting fewer chances at Inter and understandably needs a change of surrounding to start getting more game time.
Pochettino could get the midfielder in a cut-price deal in January. He is a quality midfielder and also has the ability to play in the attack. If our gaffer thinks of getting Brozovic in the summer, then it would not be a wise choice as there are many other clubs that could lure him away from San Siro.
If we can get the deal done this month, he would also be eligible to play in the Champions League and that would be a big boost for us.
