Lucas Moura has admitted that he is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain as he looks set to leave the French capital before next week’s transfer deadline. Linked with Spurs and Manchester United throughout the transfer window, Arsenal are the latest club to be reportedly interested in a deal for the Brazil international.
With the French giants bringing in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at the start of the season, Moura has only made six appearances for the club this season in all competitions. The winger has revealed that being frozen out has left his confidence in utter tatters.
Speaking of his lack of game time so far this campaign, the 25-year-old is clearly not happy with his situation after spending five years with the club.
The Brazil international told L’Equipe that he was “gutted” at being frozen out by the French giants.
“It’s a brutal blow. I’m gutted that I’m no longer playing, to no longer be able to express myself as I was doing before.
“I’m not happy. I thought I’d built something solid with this club, but that’s clearly not the case.”
United were very much interested in recruiting Moura in 2013 but at just 19, he was lured to Paris from Sao Paulo in 2013. Although Premier League clubs, chiefly Spurs, are again interested in bringing him to England, Moura is desperate to be in contention for the World Cup and thinks that his style of play could be a good fit for La Liga.
“It is true that La Liga could suit me,” he added. “With my speed and technique, I could perform well there. But it doesn’t matter where I end up, I know what I’m capable of. I didn’t become an international by chance.”
Moura’s impending exit from PSG has left teammate Marquinhos devastated. The Brazilian gave an emotional interview on Canal+ where he was in tears regarding the forthcoming departure of his compatriot.
“He’s a friend who has done a lot of good since my arrival in Paris. I wish for him to be happy,” Marquinhos told Canal+ (h/t Daily Star).
After bagging 19 goals and 11 assists last season, it is very sad to see Moura on the fringes of the PSG first-team this season. He has played just 72 minutes of football in Ligue 1 so far. With the Brazilian desperate to leave the French capital, do you think there is any chance of us offering him an escape route this month?
