“Time To Go Poch!”, “Pochettino is our problem this season” Tottenham vent out frustration after shock 1-1 draw vs Newport

Michael Flynn’s Newport County were left just a step short of creating a major upset on Tottenham’s fate at Rodney Parade in the 4th round of the FA Cup. An utterly heroic display by the Ports has earned them a replay at Wembley after Harry Kane denied Padraig Amond’s header with an 82nd-minute strike.

Heading into the game with two strikers – Fernando Llorente and Harry Kane – an easy outing was expected. But a complete turnaround will now see Tottenham go head to head against them for the second time at Wembley.

Surprisingly, it was Newport who started off brilliantly and came at the end of a perfect opportunity. Former West Ham United striker Frank Nouble – the only Newport player with Premier League experience – missed a sitter in 4th minute. The only thing the 26-year-old had to do was to guide the ball into the net but he sailed it over the crossbar, leaving his manager Michael Flynn completely red-faced.

Some seven minutes before the break, the Ports found themselves ahead after Padraig Amond rose high above Kieran Trippier to head home the opener. Despite being a goal up against a Premier League giant, Newport continued to dominate the game and didn’t allow Tottenham to register even a single shot on goal in the first half.

By the stroke of half-time, Pochettino subbed Kyle Walker-Peters for Heung-Min Son. Meanwhile, Harry Kane came close to equalising just before the hour-mark but the England international headed his attempt over the crossbar from just six yards out.

Furthermore, even Son came close to scoring but the South Korean was denied by a fine save by Joe Day. The 27-year-old stopper, however, was left helpless when Harry Kane tapped in some eight minutes before full time. With the result, Spurs have failed to beat a 4th tier side in an FA Cup match for the first time since January 1996.

The result sure was disappointing and this is how the fans reacted to it:
