Tottenham have achieved a massive breakthrough in their pursuit of Lucas Moura as the club has agreed to a £25m fee for the talented Brazilian. Lucas has made just 6 substitute appearances this season and has managed a solitary goal and an assist for the Parisians, who need to sell players to comply with Financial Fair Play rules and regulations following the summer signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
After manager Unai Emery told Lucas that he has no future at the club, the Brazilian is desperate to leave the French club. Despite his lack of playing time, Lucas’ quality is undoubted and he will only give our club a very different dimension in the attack.
According to BBC, Spurs have agreed on a £25m fee for the PSG attacker, with the deal being subject to a medical and agreement of personal terms. Tottenham, however, remain conscious of the need to arrange a work-permit for the player.
Lucas, who was in London last week, met Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino and Chairman Daniel Levy and toured Hotspur Way, the club’s Enfield training base. He seems keen to complete the move to North London this month as he knows his time at PSG is completely up.
After the 1-1 draw against Newport County in the FA Cup on Saturday night, Pochettino hinted that the club are open to the idea of pursuing deals for a couple of players before the transfer window slams shut.
“Of course we have some options. We are going to see in the last few days if we can add players that add good quality,” our manager said.
“If not then it won’t happen. But it’s about in the next few days to see if we have some possibilities with some players.”
With Pochettino giving a huge hint about the deal, I feel that it is only a matter of time before we complete the signing. Lucas would bring a lot of pace and guile from the flanks and signing him at a relatively low price is a snip.
The 25-year old was a target for Arsenal and Manchester United as well and I must say that our hierarchy has done a great job in beating them for Lucas’ signature.
