Tottenham complete deal for 20-year-old midfielder and loan him out for the season

Luke Amos of Tottenham

Luke Amos has signed an extension on his Tottenham contract and will join Stevenage on loan for the rest of the season. The news was announced via Spurs’ official Twitter handle. The 20-year-old has been a constant fixture in Spurs’ U23 side and has made it to the senior squad a couple of times this season.

The midfielder, who turns 21 next month, was on the bench during Tottenham’s 3-0 Champions League win over APOEL Nicosia at Wembley but is yet to make his first-team debut for the club.

It will be Amos’ second loan spell after joining Southend United for the second part of last season. At Southend, he was limited to just three appearances but will now be hoping to make a mark by getting more game time at Stevenage.

After signing for the League Two side, Amos said that he was excited about the new adventure.

“I am very pleased to get it done now I can get in some solid training,” Amos told in his first Stevenage interview.

“I am just happy to be here, it is a good opportunity for me, it is a good club and I can’t wait to get going. As soon as I heard about the opportunity, it was something I wanted to do.”

When asked about where he prefers to play, our loanee admitted that he is a versatile midfielder with a knack for doing a bit of everything.

“I am a midfielder so I am a lot of hard work, tackling, running, passing. When I spoke to the manager, I was sold straight away. Especially as he knows what I am, he is bringing me in do that and it makes me feel even better.”

Amos has been registered as a Stevenage player in time for their big game with Swindon tomorrow. The 20-year-old explained that his first training session went well and that he was excited to play for the new club.

“I enjoyed it. We did some five a side and obviously, the lads had a game Saturday and a game tomorrow so there was a bit of prep but it was good for me and I enjoyed it. I am just looking excited to get going into a proper schedule. The lads are a good bunch so it is perfect,” he concluded.

Given that Amos is highly rated at the club but is desperate to get game time, the decision from our club to let him leave on loan is a good one. The decision would turn out to be perfect if the midfielder enjoys his time with Stevenage and gets ample amount number of games under his belt.

Good luck Amos!
