Almost done: Brazilian attacker undergoes Tottenham medical ahead of £25m move

published :

Lucas Moura has undergone medical at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training ground, according to reports. He is set to finalise the details of his proposed £25million move from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian has been handed very limited opportunities by Unai Emery at PSG this season. The winger has only played 6 games so far in all competitions and after understanding that he has no future left at Parc des Princes, he has decided to leave the club.

Sky Sports News reports that Lucas arrived in London last night after both the clubs agreed to a deal worth £25m for his transfer. PSG are desperate to sell players in order to balance their books and abide by the Financial Fair Play rules and regulations following the high-profile signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at the start of the season.

The Ligue 1 outfit have therefore decided to offload Lucas, who was also told by manager Unai Emery to start searching for a new club.

Spurs are yet to secure a work permit for the Brazil international but any hopes of seeing the player feature against Manchester United on Wednesday are over. The club has failed to register the player on time. Lucas, who has earned 35 caps for Brazil, has already met Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and manager Mauricio Pochettino after touring Hotspur Way last week.

The 25-year-old contributed 46 goals and 50 assists in 229 appearances for PSG, winning 13 domestic trophies in France, including four Ligue 1 titles.

After we drew 1-1 against Newport County in the FA Cup, Pochettino gave a hint of the player joining Spurs before Wednesday’s deadline day.

“Of course we have some options. We are going to see in the last few days if we can add players that add good quality,” our manager said.

“If not then it won’t happen. But it’s about in the next few days to see if we have some possibilities with some players.”

Lucas’ move has been welcomed by Spurs fans who are desperate for the side to add some pace and width to their attack. He should be a very good signing for us as Pochettino will go to any extent in order to unlock his true potential.
