As the days roll on, the excitement regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium increases and being a fan, I am waiting for the day the construction gets fully completed. The stadium construction is progressing as expected and it is likely to be ready as per schedule. We are all aware that the brand new £850m stadium will be the biggest club stadium in London and will feature a number of world-class services.
There is some rational excitement amongst the fans over the recent progress in the stadium’s shape. A big credit to the club for keeping the fans on their toes with their day-to-day updates including photos, videos etc. On Monday, Tottenham tweeted that they have asked permission from Haringey Council to increase the seating capacity of their new stadium to 62,000 seats.
The club tweeted from their official account: “The Club has applied to Haringey Council to increase the capacity at our new stadium up to 62,000.”
“We shall provide an update on this application as soon as we have further information.”
The current capacity of the stadium is 61,559, so there would be an increase of 441 seats. There won’t too much problem in increasing the capacity of the stadium but they first need to seek permission of Haringey Council. The additional seating would bring the capacity of the new stadium to 62,000- only behind to Manchester United’s Old Trafford as far as Premier League capacities are concerned.
With the stadium slated to host NFL games and other events, the news of increasing the capacity would be received very well by the Spurs fans.
Here’s how the fans reacted to the news:
Are you going to finish it first and then add more seats or are you changing the plans
