Tottenham star reveals his admiration for former club and says he’ll buy his son the team’s jersey

Fernando Llorente has expressed how much he misses his former club Juventus and also revealed his admiration for the legendary Gianluigi Buffon.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker told Tuttosport newspaper (h/t Football Italia) about how much he misses playing for his beloved former club. With the Champions League set to commence, Llorente will have to make an emotional return to Turin as we face-off against Juventus in the first-leg of the round-of-16 encounter.

Speaking on quite a reminiscent note, Llorente said,

“It’s only when you leave Juventus that you realise what you had. Gigi Buffon is the best captain I ever had and I’d love 11 Giorgio Chiellinis.”

“As soon as I finish training with Harry Kane and my other teammates, I come home and start again with my son: he is 20 months old, but only wants to play with the football.

“I bought him a Tottenham shirt with Llorente on the back and on Tuesday, when I’m in Turin for the Champions League, I’ll take advantage of the situation to get him a Juventus one too. Perhaps a Dybala jersey.”

Llorente did not shy away from heaping praise on Dybala, who has been a force to be reckoned with for Juventus.

“I only managed to spend pre-season training with Paulo, but it was enough to know he has the kind of ability that really catches the eye,” he added.

Having joined Spurs from Swansea City last summer, Llorente has not enjoyed a good time in North London so far. He has appeared mainly as a substitute and has scored just 2 goals until now. However, it is tough to make room for a striker when Harry Kane is in the ranks. There is no doubting the 32-year-old’s influence and experience and even though he has not scored much, we can all see what a solid player he is.

It is truly heart-warming to watch him speak so highly of his former club and we can only hope that he finds a similar sense of comfort at Tottenham as well!
