Tottenham scouts watch €40m Ligue 1 midfield ace in Europa League action – reports

published :

Tottenham are interested in signing one of the better players from Nice, Jean-Micheal Seri. The Ivorian was a target for a number of Premier League clubs before the start of the season but decided to stick around with the Ligue 1 side even though they failed to make it to the Champions League.

A report from SFR (h/t Sport Witness) claims that one of our scouts was watching the Europa League tie between Nice and Lokomotiv Moscow, which the French team lost 3-2. Seri was one of the more impressive players in the match and the player is expected to leave the French side should a sizeable amount be presented.

France Football had earlier reported that Nice and Seri have an agreement where a transfer amount of €40m would be enough for the 26-year-old to switch teams. That would be a steal in this transfer market but it seems a little weird that we are being linked with the Ivorian at this stage.

Is Seri The Right Man For This Job?

Tottenham do have their fair share of quality midfielders and with Moussa Dembele also coming back to the party, courtesy his recent performances against Juventus and a few other clubs, we might not need to buy more players for this position.

We already have the likes of Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks to fulfil the roles in the heart of the field and splashing €40m on a player who is still an unknown quantity might be a risk that Daniel Levy and team would not want to take.

This rumour coming in from France could just be used to spark interest in the Ivorian as he looks to make a move away in the summer. There is no doubt that the midfielder can do a job but he might not be the right man for Spurs and this could just be the start of a number of transfer rumours as the season comes to a close.
