“Good but announce llorente contract termination” Tottenham fans react to Poch’s comments after Rochdale result

Fans have hit out at the boys following their 2-2 draw against lowly Rochdale in the FA Cup 5th round tie on Sunday. It appeared we had won the game at the death after Harry Kane scored to make the score 2-1, however, Steve Davies managed to equalise for the League One side during stoppage time to ensure that a replay would be held.

It is certainly frustrating that we will have to play another game and potentially risk injury to key players as we approach the latter key parts of the season. The result also continues a trend from the previous round where we initially drew against lower league Newport County before defeating them in the replay.

The FA Cup, however, presents perhaps our greatest chance of winning silverware this season if we do defeat Rochdale, which we are expected to do. We will face off against either Sheffield Wednesday or Swansea if we beat Rochdale, where we will once again be the favourites.

One man who came in for criticism for his performance on the day was Spurs striker Fernando Llorente. After some promising form for Swansea last season, the veteran Spaniard was brought to Tottenham last summer in order to provide competition and support to Harry Kane after Vincent Janssen failed to do so last season.

Llorente failed to score during the game which means that he has now failed to score four times against lower League opposition which are opportunities he should have taken advantage of.

Pochettino commented after the game saying,

“It’s good news that we are going to play a replay at Wembley. It was a difficult game, just like it was at Newport. This type of game is so difficult and we have to be careful how we assess the performance. It’s the magic of the competition.

“We gave our best and tried to win but I repeat, it’s not easy to compete in these circumstances. In the first half it was very disappointing that we conceded a goal in the last moment. It wasn’t a bad performance but we conceded.

“In the second half we increased our level and I think we deserved it, but that is football. We’re still alive in the competition and that’s most important.”

The fans reacted to Poch’s comments and here’s what they had to say.
