Tottenham superstar’s agent surprisingly claims Manchester United rumour is a compliment

Christian Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker’s agent Christian Eriksen has certainly raised a lot of eyebrows after claiming Manchester United’s interest in the player is a compliment. There hasn’t been any rumour spinning as such regarding Eriksen to United and that itself comes as surprising news.

Eriksen is a player that keeps us ticking and makes our attack fluid with his creativity and flair. The Dane is a criminally underrated player in the Premier League. He asks for no limelight or praise but silently keeps doing a good job for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The player’s impactful performances saw him get linked to Barcelona last summer. It was thought that Barcelona would move for Eriksen in the winter transfer window after failing to land Philippe Coutinho in summer. But the Catalan giants remained firm on Coutinho and got their man last month.

Despite the interest, the clever playmaker was never close to leaving Spurs last month but people in Denmark believe the player has top-notch ability to represent one of the bigger clubs in Europe.

“I don’t comment on rumours much. But when clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are mentioned, it’s always a compliment,” Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots told Danish newspaper BT (h/t Sport Witness)

“Since Christian was 14 years old, big clubs have shown interest. The first were Chelsea, AC Milan and Barcelona. Since then there has been no transfer window without any offer or interest.

“It is not all clubs known by the press. Christian is not a guy who wants to talk too much. He talks with his feet.”

Eriksen last renewed his contract with Spurs in 2016 and there could be high chances that the player’s agent is alerting our club to offer him an improved contract, which he genuinely deserves. Or maybe, there could also be real interest from Manchester United as Eriksen has been in fine form yet again this campaign.

Last month, United acquired the services of Alexis Sanchez to complete their attack and that makes the probability of them signing the Danish midfielder quite less.
