Daniel Levy’s master tactics to keep Tottenham stars at the club revealed during meeting

There have been a lot of questions raised about our wage structure and the fact is that we have kept most of our stars on our terms, having not smashed any barriers.

The recent scenario with Toby Alderweireld’s contract extension is another example as we are not willing to pay him the £150,000 weekly package that he wants. That might have to do with our bonus clause inserted into the contract of most of our stars.

As reported by Football Insider, Daniel Levy was speaking at a recent meeting with the Tottenham Supporters’ Trust. The minutes of the meeting read:

“[Supporters’ Trust secretary] Peter Haine mentioned the bonus payments, also. It was felt the bonus structure and incentives should also be considered when discussing players wages as they comprised a significant part of the monies and are the most generous of any club in the Premier League.”

Is Bonus Pay Our Secret To Keeping Harry Kane?

While Harry Kane and the likes of Christian Eriksen might not be making the money that some of the top players in the Premier League are making, the bonus structure is surely the reason why the players are happy staying with us.

That, and of course the reality that we are one of the best clubs in the world at the moment and the project is doing really well with Mauricio Pochettino at the helm, are two other factors in players wanting to stay at our club.

The last two seasons have seen us genuinely challenge for the title and even though we have not got close to runaway leaders Manchester City, we still could come second this time around and continue our consistent performances under Poch.

There have been rumours of top clubs looking to sign Kane, Eriksen and even Dele Alli but they might think about sticking around, as our contracts seem to be built on individual performances and the success of the club. So the likes of Kane and Eriksen should have no problem raking in the money as they are consistently performing for the club.

Even if we somehow win the Champions League this season, Barcelona, Real Madrid and even PSG will be circling like vultures to try and pick up our best players and hopefully, their contracts will be iron clad with tons of bonuses to rebuff any advances from Europe’s other big clubs.
