Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min is a joy to watch currently as he continues to impress for our club, contributing with truckloads of goals and assists.
Last weekend, he made it 7 goals in 4 games with a brace as Spurs came back from 1-0 down to win 4-1 vs Bournemouth.
The brace at Bournemouth took his tally to 18 goals in all competitions this season, just three shy of what he achieved last term. It is not only about goals; Son has been a diligent worker for the team and has chipped in with 9 assists in all competitions thus far.
The South Korean joined Spurs from Leverkusen back in 2015 but initially struggled to settle in North London. However, since 2016, the forward has been immense for our club and has now truly established himself as one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important players.
Amazed with the work-rate and flair Son brings to the team, Dele Alli hailed the South Korean. Alli told the club’s official website:
“Sonny is an unbelievable player and it’s a joy to play in this team with so many quality players. It’s nice to see him scoring and he plays such a huge part in the team.”
Alli added: “I was speaking to him afterwards about his second goal. He had so much time to go through and you could see him looking at Erik – he had a lot of time to think about it and it can be tough, you can change your mind, but it was another calm and collected finish.
“He’s an amazing player and a big part of this team.”
Left full-back Danny Rose also spoke highly about Son, suggesting that the 25-year-old is very much underrated.
“Sonny is very under-rated. Goals aside, people don’t get to see his attitude on a day-to-day basis. He’s always bubbly whether or not he plays and he deserves all the plaudits,” Rose was quoted by the club’s official website.
“He’s now closing in on 20 goals again in all competitions and that’s something to be delighted with – we’re all delighted for him and long may it continue!”
Son’s influence has continued to grow in the last few months with him now expected to fill in as a striker after Harry Kane injured his right ankle in the game against Bournemouth. Kane could be sidelined for some time now.
Son certainly isn’t our club’s best player but is an important member of Pochettino’s squad. He continues to do his job silently, which makes him one of the most underrated players in the Premier League.
The South Korean is so talented that he can, on any given day, win the game for Spurs single-handedly. He is mightily effective and his overall aspects of the game make him an indispensable figure to this Spurs squad under Poch.
