Christian Eriksen scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur reached the FA Cup semi-finals with an easy victory over Swansea at Liberty Stadium.
The midfielder put Spurs ahead in the 11th minute, running up the middle and switching to his left-foot before launching a curler to the top-left corner from just outside the area.
The Dane hit the bar with a rasping left-footed drive before Erik Lamela doubled Spurs’ lead with a fine strike around Swansea’s Kyle Bartley that goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt never saw.
Eriksen scored his second in the 62nd minute when he was teed up by Lucas Moura. The midfielder, who found a good amount of space, struck a low-drive past four Swansea players to make it 3-0.
Eriksen could have had an assist in the first half when he played in Son Heung-min but the forward’s goal was disallowed due to being offside, which was confirmed by the VAR.
After the break, Swansea nearly pulled one back but otherwise rarely threatened Spurs’ defence. Martin Olsson’s left-footed drive was parried away by Michel Vorm and the Spurs goalkeeper reacted quickly to deny Tammy Abraham’s header from close range.
Eric Dier came close, while Son and Moura had close-range shots blocked but there never came a moment to suggest Spurs would not go into the next round of the FA Cup.
It was a smooth sailing game for Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs will learn of their last four opponents in the draw on Sunday following Leicester’s tie with Chelsea.
The FA Cup gives us the last chance to win silverware this season and following our entry in the semi-finals of the competition, here is how our fanbase reacted to the win.
