Son Heung-min and Tottenham to discuss new deal – reports
Tottenham Hotspur are set to open talks with star attacker Son Heung-min over a new contract, as per a report from Sky Sports.
Sky Sports understand discussions are slated to take place in the next few weeks as Spurs prepare to reward the South Korean with a bumper new contract for his blistering form this season.
Son has been in sensational form since the start of the season and is likely to take his total to over 20 goals for the second season in a row, after having scored 18 in 43 appearances.
Son joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and after struggling to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League, the attacker has burst into life for the North Londoners in the previous two seasons.
The 25-year-old scored twice against Bournemouth over the weekend to help Spurs in their hunt to finish in the top four and secure a third consecutive year in the Champions League.
With 18 goals this season, including seven in his last four games, Son has become a vital cog in the Tottenham Hotspur machine.
And now, Sky Sports report the South Korean’s current deal at Spurs expires in 2020 and the club are willing to secure the forward’s future by offering him a lucrative contract in the next few weeks.
With 47 goals in 130 appearances in total, Son has become an indispensable figure at Spurs and will have an even bigger task now with Harry Kane out for a lengthy period with an ankle injury.
With seven goals in his last four games, it looks like Son has hit fine form just at the right time for Spurs.
