According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle London rivals West Ham for the signing of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes in summer.
West Ham tried to bring the Portuguese to London last summer, after failing to land top target William Carvalho, claims the Daily Mirror.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, however, is also keen on Gomes, with the 24-year-old midfield ace open to a switch to the Premier League, reports the Daily Mirror.
However, as per the Sun, Spurs have renewed their interest in the Barcelona midfielder, as Gomes looks to end a torrid two-year spell at the Camp Nou.
The Portuguese international remains interested in moving to England, having managed just 15 La Liga appearances this campaign. Since joining the Catalan giants from Valencia in 2016, Gomes has not been at his best, dishing out lacklustre performances at a constant rate.
However, the Sun claims that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to breathe life into Gomes’ stuttering career by helping him return to the top form he showed during his spell at Valencia.
The Sun reports that Mousa Dembele has stalled on contract talks with Tottenham and may leave in the summer transfer window. Should Gomes make a move to Spurs, he could replace Dembele, who has revealed he will not consider signing a new contract before the World Cup.
The report adds that Tottenham and West Ham aren’t the only clubs interested in Gomes as Manchester United have also enquired about the Portuguese midfield ace.
