Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw away at Brighton which dented our hopes of finishing 3rd in the league. The draw means that we are now two points behind Liverpool and are 8 clear of Chelsea who are at 5th place with a game in hand.
Mauricio Pochettino decided to mix things up with an eye on the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend against Manchester United. Dele Alli and Davinson Sanchez were rested while Toby Alderweireld got to make his first Premier League appearance since October.
It wasn’t the greatest of first halves but in the second half, Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 48th minute to edge closer to Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
Our lead did not last long as Serge Aurier conceded a penalty and Pascal Gross scored from the spot in the 50th minute.
Many would have expected Spurs to prove a point after the loss at the hands of Manchester City at the weekend. However, this was a disappointing result and now all eyes will be on the FA Cup tie.
There were a number of fans who were unhappy with the result and here are some of the tweets from the players and fans.

Well played Brighton. Key for Spurs this season was taking Champions League football to their new home. They’ve basically done that, and they’ve done it playing good football…good work @SpursOfficial

What tonight has shown whether some want to believe it or choose to ignore it, with the re-introduction of Toby Alderweireld we seem to instantly look a more settled side defensively.
Hope that is not the last we see of him in a Spurs shirt, a quality centre-half.#THFC #COYS

Spurs literally threw this game just so they could try and force Kane a few goals 🙈
Pathetic.

We’ve seen Pochettino develop full-backs Clyne, Shaw, Davies, Rose and Trippier.
However no doubt Aurier is going to be his biggest project, seems to always have a mistake in him.
Facts under Mauricio shows never judge a full-back under him until the second season.#THFC #COYS

#thfc Alderweireld looked good tonight – nice and composed. He had a much easier fixture than Sanchez had on Saturday – it’s not fair to compare the pair across these 2 matches – but it’s still an interesting call for Poch. I think I’d be picking Alderweireld v Utd personally.
