According to the Independent, Mauricio Pochettino will be handed a war chest of at least £120m to bolster the Tottenham squad in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham have done very well this season and apart from being close to achieving a top-four finish, we are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. This speaks volumes about the progress made by the team under Pochettino.
The Independent reports that the summer transfer budget for Pochettino will likely be enhanced by the possible sale of defender Toby Alderweireld.
Alderweireld is poised and possesses calmness in crucial moments. From his mental strength to his distribution from the back, the Belgian offers a wide range of skills to Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Aderweireld has gradually established himself as one of the finest defenders in the Premier League.
Hence, Alderweireld’s departure will surely create a need for a commanding centre-back and Pochettino seems to have been impressed by the performances of Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles and Ajax’s teenage sensation Matthijs de Ligt, claims the Independent.
The Spurs manager, however, is believed to be relaxed about Mousa Dembele’s contract situation, the report adds.
Dembele has been one of our star performers in 2018 and has proved his worth with dazzling displays in the middle of the park. He has been a beast in the midfield with his tenacity to get the ball back and help the team drive forward.
The report claims that Dembele could extend his contract at Tottenham by another year or could consider leaving for China in the summer.
The Independent also says that Pochettino wants to add more depth to his attack, with Wilfried Zaha being a long-time target for Spurs.
With West Brom facing the prospect of relegation, the door for Jonny Evans and Jay Rodriguez’s cut-price deals will also open up as Poch eyes players for central defence and attacking positions, adds the Independent.
In the summer transfer window, Spurs must add 2 to 3 quality players to strengthen the current squad. We have a very talented group of players and adding a couple of players in the summer will boost our chances of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
