Tottenham’s hopes of making it to the FA Cup final will have to wait another year after we were beaten in the semi-final by Manchester United.
Things did start brightly for us. Dele Alli opened the scoring after he converted a cross from Christian Eriksen but that was about as good as it got for us in the game.
Manchester United levelled via Alexis Sanchez who headed past Michel Vorm while Ander Herrera got the winning goal as he shot low past our goalkeeper.
We did hit the post through Eric Dier but things were just not meant to be for us tonight. This will be a painful moment for a number of fans and Mauricio Pochettino, who was looking to break his duck of trophies at Tottenham.
There were a number of deflated updates from the game and here is how our fans reacted.
What’s the most concerning about today’s result is there was almost a resignation in that second half that we wasn’t going to get back into the game.
I can always accept losing a game, but cannot ever accept a lack of commitment or effort, once again truly gutted.#THFC #COYS

Despite having 64% possession, Tottenham registered only 2 shots on target, while Manchester United had 5 shots on target. #MUFC #THFC #FACup

#thfc And, as I said before the game (I’m not being Captain Hindsight), Spurs are weaker without Lloris & Alderweireld. Against Mou/Utd in a cup semi was exactly the game for experience & Poch left out Spurs’ two most experienced players. That’s on him.

Pochetino. Good manager but gets way too much plaudits doled out on a different marking scheme.
Spurs should be doing better at this stage.

I like Pochettino & really respect what he’s built with Spurs, but it’s getting harder to argue that he’s an elite coach when he keeps getting out-manoeuvred in games like this.

And that result means Arsene will leave Arsenal with at least FOUR more major trophies than the last 18 permanent Spurs managers combined.
