Most of us Spurs fans have been mighty upset over the last few weeks. We were beaten by Manchester City and a Serge Aurier error kept us from snatching 3 points from the game against Brighton. As if all that was not enough, we were beaten by Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals, ending our hopes of laying hands on some much-needed silverware.
However, the future seems bright. A tweet from Tottenham’s official twitter handle revealed that our brilliant U18 side – consisting of names like Reo Griffiths and Rodel Richards – notched up a spectacular 9-0 victory against North London rivals Arsenal.
While the win is fantastic, it does seem a tad extra pleasurable since it came against the Gunners. Banter aside, it was a truly dominating display from our lads and special mention must go to Griffiths, who notched up a whopping 4 goals and 3 assists in the game.
There have been plenty of positives for us from this game but for Arsenal, it marks their worst defeat in the youth competition since 2011. An own goal from 16-year-old Mazeed Ugungbo proved to be all the more frustrating for our arch-rivals and this loss will give them plenty to reflect upon.
However, as far as Spurs are concerned, suffice to say this news will definitely brighten up our dismal moods. Our fellow supporters on Twitter seemed to agree and here are some of the best reactions:
Didn’t score 10. Bottled it.
